A Beginner's Guide to Cinema

竟然有這樣一套DVD，以電影入門指南來命名。產品資料頁。

又拿Woody Allen的戲名來諧訪了，網頁上見到這麼一句：All you wanted to know about 20th Century cinema, but were afraid to ask。很不合理的說話，試問二十世紀的電影知識，又怎會羞於啟齒？大家都知道，Woody Allen原來的是「性」。早前在油麻地百老匯買了齊澤克那書的譯本，也開了這個戲名的玩笑：Everything you always wanted to know about Lacan: But were afraid to ask Hitchcock---這個還算parody得有意思得多，起碼讓人有讀下去的衝動。

這套裝共六片，分別是Lang的《大都會》、Keaton的《Stemboat Bill Jr.》、Vertov的《持攝影機的人》、狄西嘉的《Umberto D》、黑澤明的《七俠四義》及高達的《賴活》（VIVRE SA VIE）。論時期，三套是20年代，兩套50年代，一套60年代。一看就知是遷就版權拉雜湊成的結果。別說在電影藝術、歷史上代表性，單是六套的組成邏輯也看不到，而且也沒有出版物或其他解說的配套。99澳元，六百多港元的價錢，有六部電影，澳洲版的DVD一向便宜，這是把舊片重新包裝銷售大於一切的考慮吧。
要找更好的同類產品，非大陸D版莫屬。甚麼大師經典，完全不理版權而共冶一爐。前陣子就見過甚麼康城影展大獎的電影全集，真是不可思議。以導演為組合的固然少不了。如果你有留意，最近美國才推出了John Ford在二十世紀霍士的電影DVD系列《Ford at Fox》（上圖），由1920至1952年的作品，21隻DVD盛惠230美元。但換了國內D版，真有條件推出涵蓋Ford一生創作的真真正正全集。

提到Ford，我突然想到他的《The Grapes of Wrath》（1940），是據Steinback小說改編的經典電影。最後亨利方達那段獨白太精彩了，頗能讓人抖擻精神，振作再上路。找到了網上版，就貼在這裡供大家欣賞。

雖然很理想化，但那種為社會公義義憤填膺、捨我其誰的精神，每次看都教我十分感動。
